Kitty corner

This weekend I gave some special attention to our kitties. To wind it back a bit, it all started with a cross stitch. I’ve wanted for years to create a little something for our cats and hang it down low; for their visual purposes only. All the fancy stuff doesn’t have to be hung up high for human benefit.
Their previous feeding spot was a bit meh. They had some cheeky bowls which I heart very much, but they didn’t fit in with anything and it was time for a change. I set my budget low, and aimed to makeover their space for under €20.

I picked up this frame for €8 from Dunnes Stores, a little serving tray for €5 at Tesco, two vintage glass bowls for €1 each at the Merchants Market and I had an existing white water bowl which was a perfect fit. I will be the first to say, the above looks incredibly cute and I wouldn’t mind keeping them like this {I know Maria and Janine will agree!}, but I wanted more of a bespoke feel, and you know me – I can’t leave anything alone.
I spray painted the frame with my all time fav, ‘winegum’ spraypaint from Montana. The tray got a lot more attention and was a challenge I set myself. With some Montana goldchrome spray paint, a bit more winegum paint and a Sharpie, I was able to magic up a pimpin’ leopard print tray. Perfect for any inner wild cat.

I’m really happy with how this little project turned out. And all for under €20. All kinds of winning. And more importantly, kittehs approve. xx A

Oh my goodness. I absolutely adore your kitteh's new corner. I love the colours and the seriously awesome leopard-print tray. I'm afraid to show your post to my cats in case they decide to move out and arrive on your doorstep 😉 Great job, really. I am inspired to vamp up my kitteh's food area too!

It is thoroughly appropriate for your posh pampered pets.
Loving this project on multiple levels – namely the ridic' cross-stitch. Simply purrrrfect.

Thoroughly enjoyed your cat pun. 10 points because no one else was as cheesy as you.

Haha – was just thinking how nice it looked in it's original state, when I saw my name!! Must say that I love what you've done, though – so impressed with the tray. How did you manage to do that by hand?! The whole thing looks great together – lucky cats, how luxurious!
Oh, and did you go with hot pink or purple for your boudoir blanket??

I actually took progress pictures of how I made the tray, so I may just write up a little DIY for it! We'll see … 😉

I've decided on a colour – it wasn't an easy decision though! I'll be writing about it soooooon.

lol there is no way I am showing Smooch what you have done, because I know she will demand the same kind of treatment. I quite loved the tray in it's original state lol and that frame lol 😛 Anyway I love what you have done with the tray, because one thing that drives me mad is that smooch gets her paws into the bowl and flicks her bikkies out and so if I am barefoot in the space I end up walking on some!!!! I am know wondering if we get her a tray and pop her stuff in it like you have. Loving the cross stitch and man I love that winegum spray, just typing winegum makes me want to eat winegum lollies.

Ugh, Toshi does that too! She gets food everywhere. So far the tray is containing her unruliness. We'll see how long that lasts.

      Mmmm … Winegum. Damnit, Janine!
