Four days in Dubrovnik

Husband and I snuck off for four days of sun, seafood and booze for the 7 year anniversary of our first date. We’re kind of nerds when it comes to dates. It was also our 2 year engagement anniversary, and 6 month wedding anniversary. See? Nerds.
We’re not sun people, but I cannot express how much we needed some sun this year. Spring is only just starting to make an appearance here in Ireland, about 2 months overdue at this stage, so it was a bit surreal to escape to some Croatian sun. Here’s hoping we all get a hard dose of this soon …

Mussels and monk fish. If you’re half as crazy about seafood as I am, Dubrovnik is the place for you. Not only is the seafood some of the best I’ve had, the price will have you dining out for every meal. With wine. Every meal. p.s. Please excuse my messy plate. All table manners go out the window when seafood is present.

Squid ink risotto – something I’ve always wanted to try, and it was worth the wait. Just heaven. I also noticed everything I ordered matched what I wore. I’m the only person to go on holidays and wear black.
And below, a bit of wisteria hysteria. It grew on anything and everything and poor husband had to stop every 10 paces while I took pictures of all of it. No hydrangeas, but wisteria will do.

So long, sunshine. Hubby and I are contemplating another short break this year, but somewhere closer to home. Do any of you have exciting summer holidays planned, or anywhere you could recommend? xx A

Wow, Dubrovnik looks amazing! It sounds like you had a wonderful time. I am salivating at all of the food! Great photos of the landscape too.

Wow. Such beauty! And seafood on top of that? I really need to renew my passport.

I loved perving at ya photos of paradise. What a beautiful place. I will confess I am not seafood fan, sigh. Hubby is though. That wisteria was beautiful and that trip up the cable car looked quite errie. I still can't believe there was a twit on the edge though.

Loving the tray below, but that would mean buying and eating the chocs, which I am partial too. But damnit I somehow think my gall bladder would let me know it wasn't a good idea. loved what you did.

Your dad is very talented too.

BTW what the heck are those purple balls at The Morrison? are they chairs(to sit on?) Loved loved the carpet with the hues of purple I bet you were in paradise.

Again I am green with envy at your first blogger meet up. Avoca Malahide looked like so much fun and your goodies were fab. I do have a typewriter though lol

Don't worry Janine, I will have all of the seafood if we ever dine out. Every last ounce.

Those are purple round stool style seating at the Morrison. I didn't have a chance to sit on them though as I was whisked off for the hotel tour. Just a good excuse to go back me thinks.

Jealous you have a typewriter. I'm always on the lookout for one and haven't been lucky yet. Patience …

What a coincidence – I'm heading to Dubrovnik in June for four days! Your lovely sun-filled shots got me all excited (and hungry!).

Get out. What a coincidence! I'm jealous you'll be visiting in June. It'll be the perfect temperature to swim – the sea wasn't warm enough while we were there. xx
