What’s your paint personality?

While trolling through some of my old posts yesterday, I was reminded of a little something I partially concocted last year, but never shared. An oldie, but a goodie …
When I was with House and Home, myself and my lovely colleague Jessica were asked to create a quiz people could take to see if their personalities had a connection to the colours they tend to gravitate to. We each came up with 10 random questions*. Some a bit cheeky, and for the most part, not relating to design.

If you’re up for it, grab a pen and paper, some tea {or G&T – no judgement will be found here}, and get clicking over to our Paint Personality Quiz. Should you like to leave some feedback, it would be warmly welcomed, as I’m genuinely curious to see if our quiz works out to your favour. Or, if it doesn’t, don’t spare us the gory details.

And on a completely different note, I’m giving up swearing for lent. I’m not particularly religious, I just thought I’d give it a go. So far, it’s not going so well. I ran out of coins to put in my ‘swear jar’ before 10am. Wish me luck.

*Mine being the latter 10 questions, in case you’re curious 😉

I want it now – antlers, antlers, antlers

Dear antlers,
Firstly, let me congratulate you on being in vogue. It is for good reason, as you are pretty neat and quite the sight for sore eyes. In an effort to be on trend, I was hoping you could make yourselves available to me? You can do this by falling off. Within walking distance from my apartment would be all kinds of wonderful, thank you 🙂
Lots of love,
Alex
I’m thrifty, and I did my research. I found out that our local deer {found in the Phoenix Park} shed their antlers between January and March. I also found out the most antlers are found in the Oldtown Woods. Perfection. We had incredible weather on Saturday, so hubby and I wrapped up in search for some antlers. Low and behold, we came back empty handed. I have not given up. It was however, a lovely and romantical walk.
It is only a matter of time. The question is – once I get my hands on some of these delights, do I go aux natural, or do I paint them? …

There is some serious winning going on with paint. The white with gold tips – particularly amazing. Fingers crossed we scavenge some of these lovelies. And soon.

Mini makeover – coffee table tray, round deux

Around this time last year I did a teeny, tiny makeover on our coffee table tray. It was blah and wooden and whatnot so I painted it a light grey to cheer up our coffee table, but unfortunately it still looked shit hadn’t reached its full potential.

I attacked it a couple of weekends ago with my trusty can of ‘winegum’ paint from Montana and voila. Much better. Om, nom.

And here’s what it looked like before I painted it this time around –

To pump up the volume, the below now NEEDS to happen to my tray. The moment I saw this picture {which the focus is meant to be on the jewelry, but my brains were immediately distracted by the spike candy} my heart actually stopped. Something along these lines has to happen in my living room.

I showed photo to father this past weekend to pick his brains hoping he would know of some hardware piece that resembles these studs to some degree. BUT, the Practical Patty that I am is already thinking things like “it’s a high traffic area, and if someone’s clothes get caught on one of those spikes, a) someone/kitty might get hurt, b) contents of tray will morph into glamorous shrapnel and fly everywhere”. Well poo. Thanks, brain.

Has anyone out there in the blogosphere tried something similar to this? I’m thinking maybe gold thumb tacks  as a last resort, but it won’t have anywhere as near of an impact.
