Dublin Flea Market – Sunday the 29th of July

Occurring on the last Sunday of every month, this months Dublin Flea Market is taking place on the 31st of July.  I’ve never been to it before, and I’ve been looking forward to getting my first Dublin flea market fix for way too long. If you’re out and about in Newmarket or Dublin in general this weekend and are considering braving the weather {which doesn’t look like it’s going to improve}, why not stop on by for some tasty little treasures?

Thrifty things – delicate decanters

I like decanters. The older, the bigger, the more decorative, the better. I don’t fully understand my fascination with them. Maybe they make me feel smarter and more sophisticated. Last Friday I added yet another to my collection, and thought why not share them all while I’m at it. Here’s my collection from over the years …

In order of ownership | 1 – Oxfam Georges Street, €8 my first and favorite decanter which I used empty as a book end many years ago. 2 – Vincent’s Blanchardstown, €10 the heaviest decanter known to man. 3 – Respect Charity Shop Prussia Street, €7 not strictly speaking a decanter, whose original purpose is to hold water on your bedside table, but I prefer keeping gin in it. 4 and 5 – Mrs. Quins Charity Shop Rathfarnham, €5 each.

Thrifty things – cheese plate

Since we don’t always have picturesque cheese and grapes at hand, our new cheese platter is home to a cluster of pine cones for the moment. But for the sake of this entry, I’ve staged some related imagery. I picked up this petite {and heavy} vintage marble cheese platter in Mrs. Quins Charity Shop, Rathfarnham for €5. I prefer filling it with alternative things though. It gives it more of a terrarium feel. So lovely.
