Setting the mood

These are my most favorite movies to watch to get in the mood for Halloween. Most are from when I was younger, but there are a few recent favorites. I grew up watching Beetlejuice – the movie as well as the tv show. When I watch it these days, it makes me wonder how censored current-day children’s movies are. Beetlejuice is an effed up kids movie. But it’s awesome.
Only two of these movies truly scare me. One for good reason since I’m nyctohylophoblic, and the other thanks to a rather horrid babysitter I had when I was younger {I was barely able to google image search the movie poster}.

My favorite picks – getting ready for Halloween

1. Alternative pumpkins. Thorny vine from Country Living, and carved Storm Trooper from Pumpkin Gutter.
2. Show me how. My aunt passed these magazines along to me recently, and even though they’re older than me, these magazines are amazing.
4. Oh no not my face, by Natalie Dee. I live inside your face.
5. Candy corn. Another luxury we don’t have in Ireland. I found this great vegan candy corn recipe by The Urban Housewife. I am determined to make some this week.

The Vogue to my Carrie

Over the last couple of weeks, I have managed to acquire a crap-ton of design magazines. I really don’t know how I managed to pick up so many recently, considering in the past I would buy one very sparingly. But alas, I find myself with a magazine in my bag every couple of days. It’s my weak spot. I really do love design magazines. They make my heart feel warm and feed my soul. I realize that sounds really touchy-feely, but I don’t say things like that unless they’re true. Design magazines are the Vogue to my Carrie.
“When I first moved to New York and I was totally broke, sometimes I would buy Vogue instead of dinner. I felt it fed me more.”
