Instagram roundup – September

Since I signed up to the Instagram machine at the beginning of this month, I thought it would be fun to do a little monthly round up of my favourite Instapics. And when I say fun, in reality it’s fun for me and probably incredibly boring for you guys … I selected my favourite 15 photos and added them in Instagram order; starting at the bottom right to the most recent on the top left.
I was a bit surprised though when I looked through this months photos; very few of them were design related. Which is mostly down to me being a bit MIA for the past two weeks. My usual routine was affected, I had no access to a computer and kissed my spare time goodbye. At first I panicked. Oh god, I have to race home and create, photograph and write up 3 blog posts, schedule them, also co-ordinate and schedule social media notifications. Fuuuuuu! I fought it for a couple of days. But then I kind of welcomed it. I took advantage of the opportunity to step back, gather my thoughts, and scribble lots of ideas on some well placed post-its.
Sometimes we need a little break from our usual schedule and daily routine, but now I’m back with a notebook full of ideas and some exciting dates coming up. And more importantly, my favourite season has started to kick in – scarves, hot drinks, mittens and crunchy leaves. Oh autumn, I love you so!
Of course, if you’d like to follow along, you can find me on Instagram here! See you back here on Wednesday 🙂 xx A

Let’s be Instafriends!*

I caved. This week I finally created an Instagram account! If I’m honest with you though, I was very hesitant up until now to join. I thought great, just one more social media site to keep up with. But after a bit of brain thinking, I weighed up the pro’s – that being I take a lot of pictures, but I never share them because I don’t want to be that person who clogs up everyone’s Facebook and / or Twitter. You know the person; we all have one in our feed. Whereas with Instagram, alls it is is pictures. So that’s kind of the point.
Pour l’exemple, here’s my most recent Instapic {is that what you young people call them?} from yesterday on my way home after work. Simply titled ‘me and Mozart’ …

… Have I lured you in yet? I’ll be blogging more on Mozzy soon, so keep your eyes peeled. To get the sneak on more of my adventures, you can follow me on Instagram here! And more importantly, are you on it? And can you recommend the best people to follow? I’m super new and don’t really know the rules, so please help a sister out. Let’s get weird together.
xx A

* Please excuse the thick layer of cheese on that one. I couldn’t help myself.

Hydrangea Girl turns three

Today is a special day for me and my silly website. It all started three years ago when I wrote a pretty awkward first blog post, ‘In the beginning‘. For the first year I blogged about other people’s stuff – designs, finds, homes and projects. It wasn’t until a year later that I started writing about things I designed, stuff around our apartment as well as share things I made. Blood, sweat, tears and paint have since been poured into my passion for blogging. Thanks to my site I’ve been offered some sweet effing opportunities, which I am forever grateful / in a magical state of disbelief.

My website also pushes me to write better, improve my ‘photography skills’, commit to ideas, meet deadlines and encourage my creativity. It’s my little corner of the internet machine that I’m proud to call home. I can’t write this blog post without mentioning the thoughtful and solid support from you guys. Encouraging me, being supportive and just understanding me and my stupid stuff. If it weren’t for you guys clicking away, Hydrangea Girl wouldn’t be here. Right. No more mushy stuff.
This year I celebrated with a fancy cupcake {which was shoved into my gaping face region mere moments after this photo}, and I also treated myself to a pretty awesome accessory …

I had been itching for a custom necklace for a while. I figured, if Carrie Bradshaw can do it, so can I. I got in contact with the lovely Elise of Glitterbomb jewelry who was able to meet my custom request of a blog header necklace. She had the exact type as I use on my blog, and I am blown away by how perfect it is. It arrived just in time this morning and I will be rocking it all day today. Big time.

To another three years, minimum. xx A
