Our wedding

I really feel that adding text to this post will ruin it. Our wedding day was like a dream, and was over twice as fast. But thanks to the painfully epic photography skills from Karina and Emily, we get to relive our day every time we look at our pictures.

I had to crop out a massive paragraph stressing the importance of researching and finding a photographer{s} with mad skills you adore, who you can sit comfortably with on your wedding morning and who will listen to you talk crap whilst you put your face on. It’s an investment you will have for the rest of your life.

Our entire day was all under one roof at Dunboyne Castle. Hubby {fiance at the time} and I stayed the night before our wedding in Dunboyne Castle where we sprinkled tea cups and draped hydrangeas onto every surface the night before. The next morning, we got ready {in separate rooms of course}, walked 3 minutes to our ceremony, got married, and after pictures and catch up with family, mozied across the hotel to our reception. We wouldn’t have had it any other way. Linkage for all the details of our day at the bottom of this post …

We hope you enjoy ๐Ÿ™‚

I made my veil 20 minutes before the ceremony. Sorry, but I just cannot justify paying €250 for something similar, when I made mine for about €1. Thrifty to the core.

And the bouquets – nothing other than gorgeous hydrangeas. Huge props to Dorothy from Dunboyne Flowers who spent weeks hunting for hydrangeas the exact shade of purple as the bridesmaids dresses, and ordered them in especially from Holland. I didn’t think it was possible, but she did it. Perfection.

Together with the ever passionate Romy, we put together a bespoke hand fasting ceremony {where we ‘tied the knot’}, as well as traditional exchanging of rings. We’re still getting compliments on what a personal and beautiful ceremony we had. It was perfection and wouldn’t suggest or have wanted anyone else for the role.

To add a personal touch, we displayed framed pictures of each of our parents on their wedding days, and for the remainder of the day, got told how much we look like them.
We also displayed our Confetti engagement mention should our guests be up for some light reading.

In keeping with our tea and porcelain theme, I wrote out our seating chart on vintage plates. I was so stuck for so long as how to display our seating, and I didn’t want to have to go down the printable, chalkboard or anything too over the top route. Thankfully, my dad came up with this simple idea, and after a few trips to the charity shop and digging through cupboards, with a trusty Sharpie, our seating chart was done. Since hubby and I met in a cinema and are avid movie lovers, I printed off our favourite movie covers in black and white {printed twice and glued to either side of a piece of card}, which corresponded with the movies written on each plate. Movies you don’t see – Batman, Star Wars, Fargo, Napoleon Dynamite, Inception, National Lampoons Christmas Vacation and Beetlejuice.

We wouldn’t have done it any other way ๐Ÿ™‚

You look amazing! Did you do your own makeup? Also fair play for sticking with your natural coloring on the day! Too many pics of tan stained wedding dresses around! x

    • December 31, 2012 / 14:39

Thank you! Yep, I did my own makeup. I had gone for a trial with the view to pay someone to do it, but I came out looking like an over cooked chicken beaten with a hammer, so I went with my own skills on the morning.

And thank you – I'm quite proud of my sickly paleness. I hate, hate, hate fake tan.

OMG, those purple hydrangeas!! I'm dying here….

Lovely wedding, beautiful bride, dashing groom. I wish you an eternity of happiness.

Long time reader; first time commenter ๐Ÿ™‚ Just wanted to say I love the table decorations, particularly the table identifiers! I've never wanted to do a seating a chart (because lazy), but if I did, I would definitely steal your idea.

Also, those purples are gorgeous! Wedding looked great! Congrats!

Aw, thank you Paige! I caught my sloppy half-finished published typing there, so I amended it to include details of our seating chart. I don't think I could have handled a complicated seating chart job.

      Steal away.

Romy you are the sweetest. We're so happy you married us and couldn't have asked for a more perfect ceremony. We will cherish it, and Kip puts it so perfectly – "always and forever".

      xx

Wow Just been playing catch up. Stunning photos. Loved the colour scheme. My heart skipped a beat with ya seating charts on the plate, sigh! And then the hydrangeas and the touches of tea and porcelain, be still my beating heart. You both looked stunning as did the bridal party and you are just oozing happiness as you should. What gorgeous memories you made. Love the photos of St Petersburg too.

Thank you Janine ๐Ÿ™‚ I thought you'd like the tea cup touches! They weren't as prominent as I had hoped on the day, but that's just because the scale of the room was mucho big for tiny tea cups. But the photos captured them oh so well.

Big huge catch up here! Sorry that I've been absent for so long. Your day seem like perfection! You make a gorgeous bride. So happy for you…x

Arrrggh! I looked at this entire post on my phone. It is far too beautiful to look at in such a small format. Silly thing is I have a computer right next to me. Will likely post more in a minute.

    Okay, so much to say!
Your look was perfection. I wish I had left my veil a little longer like I had originally had it – yours is so amazing.
The colours! Even though I knew you would be all over those colours, it is different seeing them in that setting. Just gorgeous.
Your movie table names. Effing love them so much!!
Of course, you know my hubby would be all over them. You know, it looked like a "F#@king Catalina Wine Mixer!"
Totes in love with the plate idea. Adorbs.
Ummm, is that little girl giving someone the finger? Ha!!
Finally, the candles, the tea cups, the hand fasting ritual; I am just totally gushing all over your wedding (sorry for the mess).
I am no lesbian, but I think I might have a girl-crush on you.
    Le Sigh.

    • June 30, 2013 / 08:46

      Pat you are just adora-balls.
Thank you for all your sweet comments. They got me so lovey that I questioned whether or not I could still fit into my dress. I ran into our spare bedroom, took out my dress, climbed in, and it still fits! HELL YEAH. So chuffed with myself.
The girl crush is not one sided.

Totally creeped your wedding all over again.
It is still relevant. I am still gushing.

Ok, I've just been creeping round your blog and found this post! Too, too wonderful ๐Ÿ™‚ I just LOVE all your wedding details and you guys make such a cute couple ๐Ÿ™‚ Your veil is FABULOUS and you looked absolutely radiant. I especially love that you did a hand-fasting ceremony – I looked into those for us too!! In the end we went for a rose exchange ceremony but I loved the idea of really 'tying' the knot. I also love your vintage china touches… I luuuurve vintage china. Looks like you guys had a perfect day. Wishing you many years of happiness!

Oh my god – I've just linked here from your 3 year anniversary post and I think I missed this post when you originally put it on!!! Every now and then over the years I honestly have thought to myself that you never did show us photos from your wedding! Because we saw the build up and the little bits and bobs you were making, like the button-holes etc… and I thought we never got to see more pictures!! And here they were all this time – love them! xx
